Default Bubba does pumps !!!

I just got am email from my Dad down in FL, and he had an interesting problem with a Corvette his neighbor just bought. It's a later big block Vette, I think a '74, and it wouldn't run.

They went through all the normal stuff, checking for air, fuel, and spark. What he found kind of made me laugh a little.

The fuel pump was a Chrysler fuel pump. See, the Chrysler fuel pumps have the same mounting pattern as a BBC. The only difference is the rod length to the cam, and the position of the cam in the block relative to each other. The rod wasn't making contact with the cam or enough contact to make fuel pressure.

Once they replaced the fuel pump with a BBC correct pump the motor fired right up with little effort.

Funny what some Bubbas think of.

I'm assuming he got a real good deal on a non-running car.

Not really sure what he paid. I think it's a rolling project that some older guy gave up on. Probably installed the pump with a bunch of other parts and didn't know where to start when the engine wouldn't run. Dad did say the timing was right on the money, and everything was tuned right...the pump was the only problem.
