I had left some anti freeze in an open bucket in the garage. I went to transfer the antifreeze into a container with a lid, and what to my surprise, a ton of dead mice laying at the bottom of the bucket.

Not recommended if pets are in the family.
I'm surprized PETA is not on you like a cheap suite!!!
It was an old ceramic bowl, with handles on each side, maybe about 7 or 8 inches high....also the bowl was next to a wooden crate. My guess the mice climbed the crate to get at the fluid....it's sweet and attracts all types, pets, rodents.
ive actually been finding a ton of dead mice all over my pollbarn and property around it this summer.
we had figured it was pesticide run off from the neighborhood next door.
turns out it was the Irish spring soap we set out (supposedly mice hate the smell and they leave any area with it in it) the damn things ate over half a bar of soap and then started dieing from it.
needless to say, all the bars of soap we had out are now completely unwrapped and put in easy access areas now.
I have to try that. Hope my cat laps it up. My luck the cat would sh t & die in or on the vette.
Man, I hate that cat!!!!!!!

At least they don't have BO!
Lifebuoy probably works better, though. Soap poisoning, you know. Anyone ever seen A Christmas Story?
This tip works great for a cottage that you don't get to in the winter, too.
Take a bucket, half fill it with anti-freeze, or even plumbing line anti-freeze.
Then spread a band of peanut butter around the inside of the bucket about an inch or 2 down from the top.
Place the bucket near something the mice can climb up on. They climb up, lean over the bucket to get the peanut butter....and down they go.Works even in freezing temps.

What color of antifreeze was in the bucket? Green or orange?
Years ago they started adding an agent to the anti freeze and its not
sweet anymore so all your mice must be stupid .AF is A ****ty death.I would not wish it on anyone or anythingGo to your local dog or cat pound and get A Mousser.

Water works also to drown them. They used to make a mouse trap like you described with band of peanut butter.A friend of mine put anti-freeze in in place of the water and forgot to empty the dead mice. The mice that followed could climb out because of the dead mice and then they died and his dogs ate the dang anti-freeze filled mice and the his dogs died. Those dogs were great and like kids to him.
