You should have held up your own sign saying my other car is Electric and "then" flipped him off.

I am glad that all the "greenies" are driving their energizer bunny mobiles, that leaves more gas for me and my C3.

Better have stabilizer in that fuel or you will be dealing with varnish buildup. The fuels today don't have a long shelf life.

My responce was, "I may run a carbon deficit but my car passes the strictist of emmision standards including Californias ULEVII while your car doesnt not. I may use more gas but your pollutes more."

That conversation....and social life, ended quickly.

Here's my story:

Last 4th of July, I entered my Vette into a local city parade. I end up as the last entry in the line. About a block into it, these bozos come out of nowhere and march right behind me. Well, about 1/2 way into it, they got tired of breathing my slightly-rich mixture, and bailed out. Lol!

The whole time I was in it, I was wondering to myself if the irony of walking behind my car was lost on them?

I wonder what that person was doing driving their car in the first place. Shouldn't they have been riding a bus, saving even more fuel by not driving a car at all? BTW, I tell my tree hugging sister that my Vette, and my 70 pickup cancel out any positive impact her 4 cylinder compact car does. As stated above, I'd rather buy the gas.

You know, if you really want to fight global warming, remove your catalytic converter. Remember, they were designed to reduce SMOG - the whole global warming nonsense wasn't an issue back then, and as a result the chemical reaction process that takes place produces N2O, which is a greenhouse gas. Also keep in mind that removal of the catalytic converter increases gas mileage, so you're burning less fuel per mile driven without it than you are with it in. And last but not least, while you are producing more smog, that too has a positive effect against GW because the more pollutants that are in the atmosphere the less heat from the sun is reaching the surface (as per the theory of 'global dimming', you can look it up if you want).

So next time a dirty liberal hippie wants to say your vette is killing the earth, just remind them that you've done your part to fight global warming by cutting out your cat.

kinda weird that there are new cars (such as a hummer or viper) that get as bad of mileage or even worse as our cars. we're driving history!!

I just read about an electric hybird Lamborghini. 430 HP. 0 to 60 in 5 seconds. 30 MPG. Still doesn't beat the new vette in HP, 0 to 60 or in MPG.

A buddy of mine has a '57 chevy and it is all original, looks like new. Here in MD we have emissions testing for all gas vehicles that are not antiques. It does not test diesels, or anything else. (BTW, you can get a waiver if your car fails after doing $200 of work on it). Anyway, this guy wanted to test his '57 for kicks and giggles. The attendant said he was exempt and didn't need to test, but my guy insisted on testing the car. HE PASSED WITH EXCELLENT RESULTS!! This was as delivered from Chevy in 1957. So think of Cuba, and how many carbon credits they are saving by not making or buying any new cars for 45 years! If we stopped making all these cars, our vettes would soar in value As for me, I'll keep my 68, and turn the heat down so I can drive it

Interesting thread.

For me most people driving on the highway are better off in in a newer diesel than a hybrid.

The person with the original sign would be much better off "signing" the coal powered power stations and eighteen wheel rigs than our well maintained pieces of history. (low sulfur deisel is almost here nationwide, which will help the trucks).

As for the political slant of many messages, ridiculing/insulting other people for their beliefs (however "misguided/uninformed") only lessens the value of ones "guided/informed" message.

I had to laugh as I followed a SF electric trolley that advertised itself as "zero emissions vehicle", as if the electricity magically appeared in the overhead wires.
