Default Got scr*wed today

I recently order some parts from Guldstrand for a total of 456,00 $ and they charged my card 1107,00 $... I talked to them and they said it was all a mistake and would correct it. It has been over 5 days now, several emails later and still nothing. Finally had to put in a complaint with VISA.

Be warned...

A credit may not show until your next staement.

They can charge you instantly but when they submit a credit it can take weeks to show!!!

Pay by credit card, if there is a problem like the one above the credit card company will investigate and if there was an overcharge you will get your money back, simple, you have no protection with any other means of payment.

That's the way I was brought up, I was always told, do not to wire transfer if at all possible, once they have the money, you're SOL.

If you were overcharged on your credit card...and can prove it with documentation, the credit card company will take care of the problem. This is the number ONE reason to make large purchases with a credit card (and keep all receipts & records of transactions). I had a similar thing happen when I bought an item in Europe. The company wouldn't send the item...I called VISA and they called the company. I got the item in the mail the next week. The credit companies can "pull" businesses off their lists so they can't sell through that card anymore--great incentive to "fess up" the goods (or return excess payments).

PayPal is a good option, and I have used it often. There are fees, yes, but it is SOLID protection. I try and deal with vendors that accept it.

While the credit will not show until the next statement, you should be able to check your account on line daily.

I agree, PayPal would'nt lift a finger for me, luckily my credit card company is how I pay thru PayPal or I would have been SOL. PayPal does indeed suck when it comes to disputes

Paypal does provide a fair service, It's when there is a dispute that they are prety much useless.

I confess, i am a former credit card nut, but actually i've been enjoying credit without needing it, why??? so one day i decided to stop feeding bank employess and beeing f...by what is supposed to be a politically correct way of payment and cancelled all my credit cards...

wonder why, when i decided to return all my credit cards back to their 'homes', i found such a great resistance from the banks to take them back? think about it

The best credit you can enjoy is the money in banknotes one upon the other you have in your own pocket, of course governments and banks try to avoid the cash payments, because they leave no trace, because big brother cannot chase you and because the big marketing pushers cannot understand where, what, when and how much you spend...and banks and credit companies cannot profit on every single purchase you do.

Personally, I dont need credit, i need money, nothing else will do.

You should not be using credit cards for credit. They are a convenience and as stated above good insurance when you get ripped off. Properly used ( pay them off every month ) they don't cost you anything.

Prices are already marked up on everything you buy to take into account the cost the credit card companies charge merchants ( do you get anything cheaper at WalMart for paying with cash ? ) so you should be using them. Pay them off, it's crazy to carry a balance on a credit card.

ohh, and there is another iussue, i found myself spending twice of what i'd need (and usually what i DONT need too) when shopping with credit cards...

Look at the credit sistem worldwide today, not only the unpaid mortgages in Usa, but also the unpaid credit cards balances everywhere....the matter is that people in general has been pushed to buy what they dont strickly need...get 3 and pay for 2...but actually i need only 1 !

To speed consumption, the sistem has been pushing itself into a dramatic cul de sac that could unespectedly arise to dramatic global consequences.

But this has nothing to do with the thread, so i close the iussue right here

I can't imagine Guldstrand's purposely screwing with you, Dick certainly wouldn't want his reputation tarnished over a few hundred dollars. I think another phone call to them is in order to see where they are with your refund. Email is the last way to communicate with a vendor. They can get hundreds of emails daily that can take days to go through.

Credit cards are a tool. Like any other tool, when used properly, they are very constructive. When in the hands of untrained users, they can be harmful.

Like most other things in life today, we do not train people to use credit and money properly. Ask any consumer banker and they will tell you that the majority of customers don't have an acceptable knowledge of banking and credit. People come out of college with virtually no understanding of banking and finance. They don't understand the dangers in misusing credit. That's why credit cards get such negative publicity.

I predict that, if your vendor does not reimburse you, then VISA will credit your account the proper amount.

i got overcharged from a vendor. sent a couple of emails with no response so i called my bank and they gave me the refund immediately, then did their investigation on the charges. but if they find out that it was a ligitimate charge then they will take the refund back.
