Default Removing the steering wheel...

So I bought me an original steering wheel to replace the ol' wood-grain one but am having issues locating the supposed clips that retain the cap to the emblme. I cannot find an access point to removing the darned thing!

Anyone give me some tips on where & how the easiest way to remove it w/o snapping anything off.

Thanks.

You seem to be on the right track.

Just try to get a long slim screw driver in and pry under the ring that rivets to the steering wheel cap itself. That ring is what's clipped in.

There are breaks in skirt on that ring at 10, 2, and 6, if you're looking down at the horn button like a clock.

You're very right to be careful too, as the three rivets are a lot easier to break than a time corroded clip in ring sometimes.

Just go slow, and try to get in as far as you can.

It's much simpler in the '69. It screws right off.
