I'm new here, just bought the 81 pictured below!!!
Can't wait to start cleaning it up and making it an extremely hott daily driver...
I've got a billion questions and I have been extensively using the search function, but one topic i haven't found anything on was modernizing the climate control panel.
My goal for this car is to make it as comfortable and as luxrious as a c6, while looking like a c3 all the way around....
One thing I do not like is the levers and "old" look of the climate controls.
somehow retrofitting a C5/C6 climate control panel i dont think will work... so does anyone know of any other parts, perhaps from restoring hot rods or whatever that can be a little nicer looking?
Your Vette looks like a really nice project. I think the retrofit of the C6 heater controls would look really sharp in the C3. I too am not a big fan of the lever and cable system in my 82 Resto-Mod. Keep us posted with ideas and pics as you progress.
I'm pretty sure C6 controls are all electronic controls so they wouldn't work unless you want to replace the entire system. C3 controls are manual (cable and vacuum hose control). I'm looking to do the same thing, but haven't found a good match yet. The idea would be to find another manual control system that uses the same or very similar number of vacuum hoses, cable controls, fanspeed, and (if you have it) defrost settings. The Gen 4 (94,95,96) camaro controls look like a close match, but I haven't had a chance to take a close look. Also, If I find something I think will work, I'm considering having a vinyl overlay made to pretty it up.

The vacuum and cable controls would have to be operated by solenoids before you could adapt electronic controls. I'm fairly certain that kits like that exist, however I've never looked into it.
