Default Suggestions on paint

I have an 80 coupe that I have dismantled for paint,my big indecision is should I replace the stock ureathane nose and rear bumper cover, they are in good shape with the nose only having slight waves in it as they all do,it will cost me about $800.00 for those two pieces but I also would like to keep it as stock as possible, and I have removed them from the body for paint but would like them painted separately as are the doors and hood.Has anyone out there faced this question before and were you happy with the results after painting? Any input would be very much appreciated!

I took the urathane bumpers off my vette too, and replaced them with fiber glass bumpers because I didnt like the way they get waves over time. I too have mine stripped for paint. Another thing I did was glass my front and back bumper to the body. I think that will give it cleaner look. I hope to have mine painted buy march.

You can paint the panels off the car.Depending on the color though(metalics are worse) you need to make sure the painter knows what he is doing or else your car might look like a quilt!!! (due to color variance)

I have ACI Fiberglass on both ends of my '76. Got them off Ebay for $250 each. They look so much better than the wavy urethane!

The guy at ACI told me that their truflex is pretty much the fiberglass bumper that hasn't completely cure. He also added that in time it will wave like the urathane and it will eventually cure like that. I like the urathane before it starts to get all wavy. Therefore, I'll probably go with a the fiberglass for a much cleaner look.
