Default 72 vacumn hose kit

I bought a 71-72 vacumn hose kit and installed according to diagram. Since the right light does not raise and the wiper door does not come open,,,obviously a problem exists. So I looked at the diagram in the service manual..the color hoses are not the same.

Example: in the kit diagram it shows a red hose coming out the front of the wiper relay to the actuator...yet figure 8, section 12-7 of the service manual shows that the hose is green...the red comes out the back. Which diagram is correct?

Default part 2

The head light hose kit shows 3 hoses going into the back of the vacumn tank...black from a t connector, black from a check valve, and yellow from the Lh headlight relay.

the service manual shows three hoses going into the back of the vacumn tank...yellow white and green.

what is going on?

There is a large yellow going from the left headlight actuator to the tank.
A large black going from the T to the tank
A medium black from check valve to the tank
I'm looking at a 70 car let me see if I can find my 72 diagram
EDIT-These hoses are the same 70-72.When you say you saw yellow, white and green going to the tank you are correct on the yellow but the green and white are just running under or past the tank and not into it.

To start Red is always down Green is always up on both headlights and wipers.Yellow is the main supply.White is the little line which is the "UP" and "DOWN" signal."UP" is "no" vacuum on the white hose and "DOWN" has vacuum on the white hose.
On your relays red being down always goes to the port that is closest to the diaphram with the little white hose.Green being up always goes to the port furthest from the diaphram.Yellow is always the center port which is the main supply port that either feds the green for up or the red for down.
About your above question-the red comes out the engine side of actuator.
The green comes out the dash side of the actuator.

I dont like that diagram in the link. It appeas like the forward port on the headlight switch conects to the upper port on the pull down switch....

Go to here for trouble shooting:

http://www.corvette-101.com/ click on 'vacuum trouble'

This is for a '70 but you get the idea...

Default thanks one and all

I appreciate all the help. It really seems that if you have the right diagram it makes all right with the world. The color coded diagram is going to be a big help...I used one in re-wiring the dash and never had a lick of problems.

DW...thanks as always.

Jim and Ga72...many thanks for the info.

Default Following Jim's diagram

following the color coded diagram provided by Jim i saw a couple errors in my installation...

i installed two hoses into the top end of the wiper relay. So I put the correct one at the top and the correct on on the bottom. I also covered the far end of top hole on the wiper relay. However no change was found in the wiper door opening....

I also swapped around my hoses at junction P to follow the sequence per color code provided by Jim....still no change.

I then used a vacumn gauge on hose ends 13,12,10 and read above 15 Hg on the tester.

I moved down to the end of the yellow hose near L Head light relay...and screwed the poooch big time. In trying to pull the hose off of the headlight relay I snapped off the male end....talk about angry! I still went about testing the vacumn and only came up with about 2 Hg on the tester. Can I presume that this means that the vacumn tank has gone bad? If I am going to make a trip to the parts store for a head light relay switch, I might as well get everything that I need at one time.

Not sure exactly where you got the 2hg reading but if you want to test the tank by puting your tester in the yellow hose at the left headlight relay then you need to pinch off the black hose #14.If you dont then the right headlight relay or the wiper relay could be leaking and give you a false reading.

Clamp line 4 and hook your vacuum gauge to line 14. If you have low or no vacuum your tank is bad. To date, replacing the tank is the single most difficult project I've tackled. If your tank is bad you can connect 4, 14 and 10 with a Y-connector to get things going.

Remember....blue line goes closest to the floor on parts J and K!!!
