Will be bringing my '80 to be painted this week. The plan is to make it white with a red interior.
Looking for suggestions for a white that isn't too stark like a good humor truck! (Although I am particularly fond of ice cream.) It will be single stage.
I know there was a white in '80, but I haven't seen one in person.
I'm not picky about it having to be a 'vette color either.
Any suggestions, pictures would be most appreciated.
code 10 white is correct for 1980 vette.
code 11 is a warmer white & was on other 1980 GM.
code 12 is on 1999 GM & other years & is a nice cool white w/ just a hint of blue and is available as factory pack single stage acrylic urethane ... regional SE wholesaler sells it in code 12 for ~ $36/3qt can & required activator is ~ $22 qt. Plenty of circle track cars around here painted with it.
All 3 are NON-metallic & NON-pearl ... FYI, metallics & pearls are harder to match when damaged. My vote's for either code 10 or 12. I've seen plenty of great looking C3 in code 10 white.
Go to your local professional auto paint & body shop SUPPLY STORE ... allow an hour or two browsing their chip books ... online chips just don't cut it imho.
i had my 61 painted erimine whit / red interior it was my wifes choice not mine i wanted silver but the wife said not again i have 3 silver cars already she was right it looks very classic and flowing ,sorry but not able to post pictures ,don;t know how
When I got my '77 painted I was curious about adding a little pearl to the mix. The paint and body guy told me that he would do anything that I wanted......but...think about this. If you get a small scratch, ding, dent, crack, crash, ETC. It will be nearly impossible to get the pearl color to exactly match unless you repaint the entire car. When they mix a batch of paint w/ pearl, the entire car is uniform using the same batch. I guess that a really good (and expensive) paint/body shop could do it, but it just makes things harder.
I'm kinda partial to 046 Opal Pearl White used on '94 Special Edition ES300's. After 13 years I'm still amazed at how it looks. In certain light it matches the silver lower clading.

GOOD LUCK and post pics when you get it done.
Two types not to hire to do anything: the Guy who says; I'll do anything BUT... and the gut who says; the EASYEST WAY is...
One doesn't know what he is doing and the other is look for the short cut.
