Default Need a picture

Anyone have a picture of 81 power steering pump with pully in car. Need a front and side view so I can get an idea of the distance and relationship between the pully and the front cross member.

I posted this one below last week and never received any answers.

1). Anyone know the distance (back of crossmember to pully) the power steering pully should be from the front crossmember.
2). Also if you drew a straight line across the top of the front crossmember where should it hit the pully? Or another way to say it is how high should the top of the pully be above the crossmember?

Thanks,

Tony

If you are trying to figure out how close the pulley should be to the crossmember, mine runs very close to the crossember but does not hit. If you are trying to line your belts up straight, mine needed a shim to bring the pump out for alignment. You will need to describe your problem better.

Bought a wrecked 81. The power steering pully is up against the front cross member. Trying to figure out how far back the motor should be, and if the motor should be raised. I'm thinking the motor mounts or motor mounting horns on the frame are bent.
It's so close I can not even fit the pully on the pump.

Mine is so close it looks like it would rub the frame but it doesn't. You might be able to pull up on the pump enough when tightening the bolts to get enough clearance. If not try filing the holes a bit. You might also have a weak rubber in your engine mount causing them to sag. I would replace them first. They are cheap at the auto parts.

Best I can do...

The pulley was about 1/2" from the crossmember....you had to loosen the pump and slide it up to get the belt off.
