Tire suggestions
Goodyear Eagle radials on my '68 are over 10 years old and have dry rot. Need new ones, what would be the best performance and ride for the $$? Have red lines with original wheel covers, changing over to trim ring and hub setup when swap out tires. Wish to go raised white lstter tires to sport it up a bit. '68 has 15x7 rallys, I believe 215s are the widest I can go.

I just put 225-70's on my 68. They are red lines from Diamondback. They are Yokahamas so they provide a nice ride and improved performance. No rubbing. Stock 15x7 rims. They didn't offer white lettered in 68 but if that's what you want I'm sure they have something. Good people to deal with.

If you're set on raised white letter tires, the standard seems to be the BFG Radial T/A, but many say they're getting more difficult to find. I had them on a '78 Silver Anniversary and liked them very much. I also think the Cooper Cobra white letter is an excellent tire.
If you want to stay with redlines, I have redlines on one of my cars...215/70R15 from Diamondback and are made by Cooper. They're smooth on the outside and have all the markings (Cooper Cobra, etc.) on the inside wall of the tire.
Coker also has redlines in that size which are BFG's.
Lots of guys here like the Firehawk and Dunlop GT Qualifier. I have no experience with those, so I can only take their word on them. I did have a different line of Dunlops on a car and did like them (my ex-wife has that car now...such is life).

[QUOTE=I'm Batman;1563254965]I've never tried the Cooper Cobras, but I might go with them next....
I had Cooper Cobras on my car for sometime and they're owesomely HORRIBLE...
They stick to the tarmac like soft marble
They'll last a lifetime though.

Thanks for the suggestions, sounds like Diamondback is the way to go. Also, forgot white letter was not yet introduced in '68 so will go with redlines and rally setup. Thanks again, happy holidays to all!

Personally, I like thin-line whitewalls with a red '68 [rather than red-lines]. Doing both is a little much for me.

Whoa! P02's?? I didn't read that anywhere in the thread, did I? Thin-line whitewalls and P02 covers are THE thing for a stock '68.

Are you sure they're not P01 wheel covers? That was stock for '68...P02 covers didn't come out until the '69 model year. They look very similar and are easy to confuse.
P01 covers are very hard to find, especially in good shape. P02's are tough enough...P01's are like an honest politician...rumored to exist but next to impossible to find.

And I had a set on the International Blue '68 coupe I had in the mid-70's. Oh well.... It looked great then; it'll look great now.
