165 hp out of an 8.... That's almost like, why bother, ya know?
Yaya I know about the emissions stuff and all that, but still...
be proud of your low Hp numbers. i stomped the sh*t out of some kid in an acura one time at the track after working up his confidence by telling him mine was 180hp. he had an exhaust and intake and was spraying nitrous too.

99% of the time they are going to make you look like a fool. I would chalk that up to the kid having no clue how to drive, because that'll probably never happen again.

Wait 'till you see the Canada spec cars with the km on top instead of the miles on the speedo!
Yea, and the power is rated in watts (I think the L48 was 60 and the L82 100) and the torque in Newton-meters. But at least we get to drive 100 legally.

1. He was lying and had no nitrous
2. He didn't know how to drive.
The only time my L81 ever won a race was against my friend's F150 and my other friend's Taurus. That motor was like a boat anchor.
I ripped it out and dropped in a crate motor. I'd never go back to that choking lung of a motor.
For Vettebuyer. Cars exported to Canada after September of 1977 for the 1978 model year had metric speedos and odometers. A speed of 240kph is about 150mph.

I have never seen this but I did read about a late 70's car with a v6.
Thanks for any replies.

No but it might have helped. With unleaded gas,EPA & Cal. smog police it was a sad day for Corvette performance. No convertable& it wouldn't get out of it's own way. One year you could only get a auto. trans.& Cal. could only get a 302. I cant beleave they sold any Corvettes in the day.Nobody would give them garage space & thats why the midyears bring so much money now. Thank God the 86 & up have conv. & performance. Can you beleave 620 HP in 09. Sure beats 190HP.
KEN
a corvette is a corvette no matter what year it is they all have the heart& soul of a corvette and the rubber bumper cars of the 70's are not as pathetic as the numbers might make you believe the early c1"s are just as pathetic if not more.
