Engine option question
Was the six clinder engine ever an option in the C3 series?
I have never seen this but I did read about a late 70's car with a v6.
Thanks for any replies.

nope, they were ALL v-8's
the minimum HP rating was in 75 with 165 in the L-48 option then 76-77(ish) was 180 and then 78 had 185 as a minimum and the 74, 79, and im not sure about 80 had 195 as the lowst hp rating
but they were all 8 cylinders

If you want a 6-banger, you'd have to buy an early C1 vette.

Yeah, there were a couple, but only in the limited edition metal-bodied ones.

There were some 305 CI V8's
I have heard that some late seventies or early eighties cars that went to California had 305 CI V8 motors.
There were no C2's or beyond that had a 6 cylinder from GM

No, no C-3's had 6's in em..........
but if you wanted the same horsepower & torque as a 6 or less,
you could have bought any 76-82 with a V-8

Who wouldn't kill for a 396? I can't believe I didn't know about the 305's, but I've never seen a california spec car either. What was the HP output on that car? It was seriously less than the 165 HP L-48 in '75??

Wait 'till you see the Canada spec cars with the km on top instead of the miles on the speedo!
PS, my first Corvette was a '65 396 in 1977... it was the cheapest one I could find ($2500) and I got rid of it as soon as I could afford a '68 with a 327!!
