Default Engine fan removal..?

Hows it come off ?? I have the water pump off the car, and the 4 small bolts off, that look like they secure the fan. Fan wont separate from water pump..think its just frozen or rusted tight? Maybe a bigger hammer??

Help! I'm painting pulleys and stuff!!

Happy New Year!

I pulled mine off my 69 and it was the same thing, stuck. If you can, spray it with either WD or so other bolt loosing spray. I can really remember how I did it but maybe used a hammer and hit it from behind. You can use a thin screw driver and hit it between the fan and the water pump. My mind is slipping fast. In the process of putting it allback together. Taking alot of pictures helps. Tony

If you've pulled the water pump studs, then it should come right off with a whack of the hammer. You may try shocking the flange with a dead blow hammer if you plan on replacing the pump. Don't go smacking on it too hard if you are reusing it though as you could damage the bearings. To answer your question simply, there is nothing else there that is holding the fan to the pump. It's just frozen on there.

Usually just a little light taping with a hammer does the trick.
