Hello all,
Am scheduled to pick up my/our 1st vet next week - 78 Silv Ann - it's surprise present for our 25th wedding anniversary.
What I need to know is the door clearance/height from the ground to make sure it will clear the fender of the trailer being used to collect the car. Have used the search function but can't find this answer.
The group here appears to be great, helpful and extremely knowledgeable.
You only have about 4" of ground clearance for the majority of the car, the clearance under the doors is about 6-1/2". May want to consider a wider trailer
5-6" would be my guess, since mine is on jackstands right now. If you cant find a wider trailer you can alway pop the top and climb out the window, I've done that before. Congratulations on the anniversary (both)!!

Thanks in advance,

Just went and measured mine and there is just under 12" from the bottom edge of the door at its lowest point to the ground (me not in the car). Of course this could be different if the car you are looking at has been lowered or has tired springs, I just put new springs and shocks all round last summer.
gdm78vette - Thanks! Doing that is just incredible. 12" will clear my trailer fenders.
L82Shark - Thanks for the congrats. Was telling the better half that even mass murders get released/parole after 25 years. It didn't fly...

Just my .02.
Throw some 2x4's on the trailer. When it comes time to roll the car up the ramps your front spoiler might hit the ramps. Put the 4's down on the ground and it should get it high enough to transition. I had to do this to get on a flat bed. Oh, when you take it off dont forget to put the 4's down or you will scrape leaving the trailor.
If you dont need them they could be placed on the trailer to drive on and give you an extra 1 1/2 inch in height from the door to the hump. Good luck.
When I had to trailer one of mine I ended up removing a top and going in and out that way Reached in and raised the window as high as I could after loading it, leaving it about 4" open so I could reach in and latch the top.
Like mentioned above. some boards to ease the approach will help. I used doubled 12' long 2X12s with a few supports underneath as ramps to spare the Pace Car front spoiler. Planned it out good, too! with screws and clamps.
Congrats on your 78SA, they're beautiful Vettes!
