I may go again this year...but this year there are several C4's in the mix....that is interesting and tells me some are trying that "market" out or something...

I'm very interested in a 69 Vert as it is being refered to as a "L-88
recreation"... Anyway,it has a 502 cid crate in it,4 speed,etc..have not seen any 69 502's there before...it is lot #1530.1 and most likely will go late in the auction..won't tell me much as to real value on mine, but be interesting to see how much the bid is...

Check pics..engine bay looks dirty...

Rich, I have just recently found a way to get the speed channel over the net and was watching the last auction in AZ. There was a C2 with an injected 502 like your engine and the guy with the head set walking around the car said that the engine is available complete and all you do is drop it in connect a couple of wires and you are good to go.

A couple of wires???????????????

That is funny...I seen that guy he is a trip...opinionated,as well...

I did not see all the C2's,as I focused on all the C3's...really had my eyes opened...different seeing them in person...you catch all the flaws, like mis-aligned headlight covers,hoods,etc...

Was that the guy with the black framed glasses? If so he is the X editor of Hot Rod magazine. Used to be on some other car shows on Speed.. Yeah he is a real know it all.
I get amazed at alll the self proclaimed Vette and classic car "experts" on Speed and Spike TV. Most were born after 1970...never lived through the era. Only know what some else wrote.

Kind of like history??

That'd be Steve Magnante, ( more of a mopar guy ) he seems more concerned about rear ends than anything else and cloned Super Sport Chevys and "made" G T O's. That blue roadster looks nice but more time was spent on the immediately visual then under the hood appearences. The fuel line looks sorta cobbed. Peace,,,Moosie

Anyone else notice this "L88 Clone" has a radio AND heater controls.

Does that mean I could sell my Vette as a "Motion Performance" clone? It does have a stripe.

Cracks me up all the terms being used today..."L88 recreation"..."tribute vette"...etc...at least "retro" seems consistant with "custom"....
My wife refers to my 69 as the "Green monster"...

Which reminds me...wonder if my wife will let take her car to Barrett again this year...

The guy that the BJ groupe needs keep out of there is the British guy that seems to know nothing and makes alot of false observations. I only use British to describe him as i don't know his name.

Alain de Cadenet is the british sounding guy, funniest thing he ever said was when he mis-pronounced "Hoosier" as in Hoosier racing tires. He put a french spin on his pronunciation. Peace,,,Moosie

If you have high speed Internet you can down load this program to your desk top. when you open the main page click on the English programs at the top then click on Wheels.......that is the speed channel. You also get several news channels and even NASA channel. All free

Default Speed channel hook up

Bangkok Dean,

Thanks for the web link. I have moved to the UK and I miss the Speed Channel.

A buddy, ex drag racer, Chevy hot rodder lives in Bangkok. So if you need to talk fast chevys in the bar some time let me know. He's a real good ole boy. I might go out for a visit as I am travelling to Korea from the UK for work all of the time. I now reside in the UK, until my project is over.

Sorry to hijack the thread!

Re the clone, the engine compartment is a bummer, but its a really poor photograph. Original type valve covers would be better.

The body looks very good, almost perfect in many ways. hoodlines and seams appear pretty uniform, headlights a bit sunken maybe on the pass side.

Shame its not an "accurate" replica, and of course its a power steering car, and thus the L88 is a bit of a stretch for those in the know...However this is better described we should look to this as a benchmark in pricing for a NOM big block conversion out of a 69 4 speed car.

What did it cost to build? approx 30-40K if done right.

What is it worth? about 38-45K if sold right...

The 64K question....

What can the current economy/market bear for such a car?

I downloaded this tvu networks, its very cool. So is this "wheels" station at the same time as the speed channel, like the upcoming bj auction, will it be shown at the same time as it is on speed?

thanks
