Default Fuel Pump Woes!!!

I pulled my 69 out of storage to "play with" over the winter. The darn thing would not start so with the help of a couple neighbors, we pushed it into the garage. Turns out the fuel pump ruptured sometime during the 30 month storage.

My problem - No one has the correct fuel pump! I have tried every local FLAPS, all the mail order houses including Rockmart & Ecklers etc. Every one of the pumps they list show the input from the gas tank pointing toward the block/motor mount area instead of torard the frame.

Anyone else have this problem? I have already purchased 2 incorrect pumps! I am not looking for a NOS NCRS or original - JUST ONE THAT WILL WORK!

Any ideas?

John

I just looked at my old LT1 pump. From sitting in the car the inlet nipple is pointing about 4 oclock, towards the fram and the output is threaded and it pointing at about 11 oclock. This does not help but I know this is the correct orientation. I did help a buddy recently on his Vette and had the same problem. We kept getting the wrong pump. I think he finally got the correct one but if I remember one of the sponser suppliers that had a bunch of wrong oriented pumps. They corrected the problem but it was a problem.

Thanks Steve! Guess I should have listed that it's a 350/350. I tried a BB pump - broke off the arm is SECONDS!

Your orientation is exactly right Gordon. I had an appointment to get the car inspected 12/18/07 HA. Can't go anywhere without the pump.

Do you remember which sponsor had the right pump?

Delco discontinued it. I have tried Carter. Airtek and Pierce. No luck.

VC can you pull one out of the box and check the orientation of the input? It should be almost 180 oposite the threaded port that goes to the carb.

Thanks man!

Go to the Holley webpage, look for mechanical fuel pumps. You'll see they make several fuel pumps that have moveable bodies that allow you to rotate the body to get correct alignment with the fuel lines.
