Default Is this normal?

Just finished installing my hydraboost, bleeding the brakes, etc. and got it back on all 4's. Everything looked okay other than the drivers rear was sitting about 1/2" lower than the passenger. I thought, no big deal, it's been sitting on jack stands for a little over a month, just needs to settle back in. Went for a couple laps around the block to test the brakes and this is what it look like when I got back in the garage. WTF!!!! Am I ever going to be able to drive it longer than around the block???

I have new shocks, spring and smart struts. Upon inspection all looks good. Is it safe to say that it's a wheel bearing? Any other possiblities?

No, that is not normal. And I don't think a bad wheel bearing can cause THAT much camber without self destructing. With the wheel in the air, can you shake it around? Rear camber is determined by your strut rods. We need pics of the underside to tell you what's going on.

Check your Smart Struts to make sure one did not loosen up.

Just noticed that

Have you driven it before with the new smart struts? I'm thinking you have them adjusted out way too long. (They allow for more adjustment than the stock cam-struts) That's where my money is.

If that's your wheel bearing, then you're lucky to be alive.

Check the adjustable struts first. Also make sure you didn't have a halfshaft turn itself into a pretzel. If that problem is a wheel bearing, I'd hate to see what else broke with it.

I had a wheel bearing go out on one of my past C3's and that is exactly what if looked like when my wife called me and I showed up for the roadside rescue. Get back up on stand and check all of it out real well.

As mentioned it could be the strut. If it is the wheel bearing you will know as soon as you give that tire a shake.

Yes, I've driven it about 100 miles since installing the smart struts and also had it aligned.

I jacked it up and everything looks to be in good shape...nuts on the strut where a little lose but seemed to be okay. The wheels just hangs and shakes like crazy. I started pulling the T-arm last night. Hopefully I'll be able to examine it more once I get it off.

Thanks for all the help.

Shame on the alignment shop for not checking out suspension integrity before they did the job. Call them and tell them you expect to get it re-aligned for FREE when the repair gets done.

It came with a 3 year warranty. So as soon as I get the rebuilt T/A's on there I will be taking it back. I will be sure to point out what happened and watch over the entire process double checking everything they do.

Make sure the spindle and bearing support aren't trashed if the bearing is that bad.
