Need Hood Liner info?
I would need to know which model years shared hoods and thus, they would share liners.
My liners withstand the heat and so does the decal. The one on my '97 Thunderbird Limited Edition has been on since the summer, with the vinyl emblem, and it's as clean as the day I put it on. Here in southeast Michigan, the Detroit metro area, we've already seen 2 good snowfalls and lots of road salt. The liner is still spotless and the vinyl decal is not affected. My Tbird is my daily driver. I wrote in the eBay auctions that I have up now and in the forum that this material is made for aircraft, is FAA-approved, and as such must stand up to temperature fluctuations and forces that our cars don't experience.
Here's a way to get me a template without having to send me an original liner:
Go to a dollar store and buy a vinyl shower curtain, should be only $1! Doesn't matter what color it is, clear works good too. Lay out your original liner on the shower curtain and put some sort of weight on it so that the liner and the curtain don't move around. You will have to work on a large flat elevated surface, like a piece of plywood on a sawhorse. Trace out the original liner on the vinyl curtain with a black permanent Sharpie, indicating the holes if any and the section for the light if you have one. If there are any elevated contours to the original liner just flatten it out with your free hand as you trace around it. You can cut out the design when you're done or just send it to me as-is and I'll cut it out on my end. With that template on the curtain I can cut one out from my material.
This procedure will work for ANY year Corvette, or any car for that matter. I just need folks to send them to me. Spare original liners will work too.
My liner is sturdy when mounted, but it's not stiff on its own. It can't be installed with just the clips because it will sag. The adhesive holds it in place along with the clips, and it will follow the underhood contours. Adhesive is sprayed on the underhood and the underside of the liner and then after waiting about 30 seconds for the adhesive to "set-up" it's "pressed in" by hand in sections.
Thanks!
Gonzalo
