i just changed mine. thanks for the tip with the screw in the back. but i do have 1 problem. handle works great with console off but when i put it on handle binds and dont go back easy. looks like handle is not centered in groove. i took off and put on about 10 times with no luck. is there anything i can adjust with handle or console?
When you replace the assembly, how do you remove the tension on the parking brake cable?
AK. what u gotta do is remove tension spring under car. u cant miss it. then take off nut where spring went into hole so u can drop cable. this will give u the play. then just rehook.
I'm looking at all the catalogs and the parts on my car. Is it really true that the parking brake handle is an assemble and that I can't just replace the plastic pistol grip handle??? Damn you GM engineers!
Now Now,
I take offense to that.
If it wasn't for Chevrolet OEM product design engineering,
we wouldn't be having this conversation.
its the entire assembly and it is a pain in the a$$ to put in. I had the same thing the pistol grip was all chewed up by mice, but if you want a new grip you have to replace the whole assembly.
