I picked up 1.5 '68 seats at Kissimmee yesterday. The complete seat doesn't have a headrest, but it looks like/feels like there is a block-off plate or something like that along the top, with perhaps a screw at each end maybe 6" apart.
I currently have '68 headrest seats in my '69, and the seat back from the "new" seat is in better condition than the one in the car. I want to swap the seat back portions, but only if I can easily add the headrest to the seat back.
Any info on the non-headrest '68 seat back frames would be appreciated. I'm understandably reluctant to take my Xacto knife to the upholstery to cut an opening for the headrest.
Most '68 seats didn't have headrests. The seat back must have the receiver or the headrest won't have anything to slip into. My original '68 seats don't have receivers in the seat backs. I bought a set of '68headrest seats and added them specifically so I could have headrests in my '68.
You should be able to remove the back panel and either look or feel around up toward the top of the seat back to see if the receivers are present. '68 and '69 headrests are the same so they will interchange.

Thanks for your reply. I have all of the parts including headrests, I'm wondering if I can "convert" the non-headrest seat by adding the hardware...but withour removing the seat cover.
