Had one in my 78SA. Was very happy with it and could remove it in about two minutes.

Probably all the stereo gurus will pooh pooh it but I was more interested in driving and enjoying the car. The bazooka filled the car with the bottom end and is adustable. With the curtain pulled closed you didn't even know it was in there.

I had there 8" and it rocked. Once i redid the car I put a perminate one in. Only thing I didn't like was putting the t-tops in with that sub. PITA

It depends how serious you want to get. They do indeed give more bass, and are a breeze to install.

However, pair them up against a real sub, and you'll want to launch that bazooka out of a bazooka, because there's no comparison.

I'm a stereo "guru" (Since 1989) and I think they are fine. Back in 1995 I had a pair of amplified 6.5" bazookas in my 1994 Beretta. They actually sounded pretty good.

I didn't blow anyone away at a stop light (like that really matters) but inside the car I had enough low end to keep me happy and make the music enjoyable.

Plus I didn't have a huge box eating up all my trunk space.

A bazooka is just a sub in an enclosure. Generally it's a low watt sub in a vented tube instead of a box.

The difference is the wattage.

If you want to go bigger and better, you spend more money, and you get a larger higher watt sub with higher excursion numbers, in a well designed box, and amp the sub.

It's just a matter of how much performance you want.

With the bazookas would you buy the amplified tubed subs or the passive tubes and buy the amp seperate?

I have one in my '78. Get the amplified one, I think you'll be happy with it. Like some of the other posters have said, you can spend a lot more if you want to but why bother?
