Default where does this spring go?

i was removing the wiper mount on the passenger side of my 1970, and as i removed the last bolt the mount popped up at me and a spring and something else came flying out. The spring i found, the other peice i did not. When i removed the drivers side i was careful to see where the spring came from but the drivers side did not have a spring. I was just wondering where it is supposed to go? It is a large spring, about 1.5" tall and it seemed like it came out of the bottom of the wiper arm mount. Please Help if you can

If you are referring to the wiper arm linkage in the front of the windshield, then I would guess it was on the switch that closes the door after the arm parks on it.

on second thought, that one is not that large, if no one else knows, I can check my 72's AIM when I get home.

I am guessing that you are talking about the right side tripod that the wiper arm clamps onto. In my (1972) AIM book there are no springs under that tripod base. I have had mine off on my 72 and I know there are no springs under that base.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me will jump in here. But if your 70 system is the same as a 72 I don't think there is any such part on the wiper arm base.

I am going to guess that the vacuum control over by the passengers side wiper arm is broken and the spring came out of that when you removed the arm.
