Default Lets talk seatbelts....

I no belts in my '70 'vert and now that its on the road it needs something.

My options are:

1. Factory style lap belts
2. Factory style lap belts w/ shoulder harness
3. Shark bar with 4-point? race style.

My seats dont have the holes in the back rest but I have a feeling thats an easy fix.

I'm leaning towards #2 or #3.

How does the sharkbar fit with a 'vert?
Are 4-point belts a pain in the ***?

Any thoughts and comments are appreciated.

Jim

This may not answer all your questions but there is some great information in the response of this link:

Hope that helps!

My Shark bar for my 72 Vert is coming on Tuesday. I can let you know in a few days after that. I am planning on running a 5 point harness in mine but currenty have the F body 3 point in mine. It has the shoulder harness with the retractor on the wheel well. I have had this setup for years and have been very pleased with it.

My 70 vert came from the factory with only the lap belts. I put in a factory shoulder harness a couple years back. I bought good condition used shoulder assemblies off ebay and all other required parts from ZIP. It was a fairly easy mod. The hardest part is partially removing the upper seat covers. You do have to cut a hole in the seat covers for the belt to pass through.

If you want original [stock] belts and hardware, get ready to search on eBay for the hardware and have the wallet out (just for starters). Otherwise, GATOR79's suggestion is a very good and cost effective one. Camaro belts work great, from what I've gleaned from the forum.

Are there any special years/models that work best, or all the same? I would like to do something w/mine, since lap belts only are a quick trip to the morgue.

If you want to use the F-body seatbelts then you need the rear belts from a coupe, not a convertible, from a 1993-2002 model Camaro or Firebird.
Currently on Ebay there is a complete set:

I'll be waiting for the pics and your opinion. Did you get the series 1 straight bar or the series 3 with the hoops?
