I´m about to install hooker side exhaust pipes in my 1980. vette.

Here's a few tips I gathered from my install:

1. You only need to get the car up about 12 or 14 inches. If you can slide yourself under then you can probably fit the headers under.

2. Check your clearances! Mine had a significant interference with the steering box and some interference with the drivers side door. I don't know if the box had been changed or moved over the years if the Fastburn heads are in a very different spot, but I had to put a pretty good sized dent in the header to make it fit. I also had to bend the side tube mounting brackets a little to lower it. Otherwise the driver's side door would have hit it. Those bend pretty easy.

3. If you are doing this by yourself, use some blocks of wood or something to hold the collector part of the header up in place while you put in the header bolts. It keeps it lined up a lot better and you don't have to support the heavy header with one hand.

4. The clutch Z bar goes in really easy from the bottom of the car.

5. You may need to start all the header bolts before you start tightening them down. There might not be enough clearance in the bolt head pocket to properly start a bolt when the flange is flush with the head. I used a C-clamp to squish this area to give me a little more room and that worked nicely, but may not be necessary for you.

I just put a set on my '69 last week. I didn't have to modify the headers at all to get them to fit, it was just a matter of getting the car high enough to maneuver them in there. The problem I ran into was mounting the side tubes. They were so high up that the door was hitting the top of the tube, so I welded on a couple pieces of flat steel to extend the tabs on the side tubes. Good luck
