I always post that a bad day playing with old cars beats a good day at work. Guess that doesn't apply to race cars. Was that the hole that let all the horsepower leak out?

Yep. Sometimes it may take a few minutes to find exactly where the horsepower is leaking out, but they were able to diagnose this one pretty quickly.

Wow - that hole in the aluminum (?) brought back memories of when I drove a rod through the top of my '68 VW Beetle's block 30 some odd years ago!!

Pulled and disassembled the motor the next day and had the block repaired by an aircraft mechanic. Because he was so proud of his work, he welded his initials near the repair. He heated the half block so much it warped and wouldn't mate to the other half!!

Ahhhhh... Memories!!
