HI
I GOT A MONO LEAF SPRING ON EBAY . TO PUT ON MY 75 VETTE . BUT IT DOES HAVE THE BLUIT UP IN THE CENTER OF THE SPRING LIKE MY FACTORY DOES . WHAT DO I NEED TO DO? HELP
the new composite spring should have a block above and a block below the center piece of the spring on the ones I have seen. Tape or something holding it together until its installed. Can you take a pic and post it or give us the name brand of the spring? Just want to be sure you have got it all. You can still find the center of the spring by measuring it. Just want to make sure your not missing a piece.
The VB&P monospring that I just installed had a block taped on above it with a locating nub. If you bought a used spring from ebay you may be on your own for installation. You might ask the seller if the sring is supposed to be a 'bolt-in'.

I don't want to scare you or deter you from using your new spring but I would look at the spring closely and see if there are any small cracks. The reason is the rear spring holds the entire car up. A failure could be catastrophic. Also do you know what spring rate you have and what rear it came off of. I would call someone over at Vette Brakes and Products and ask them. There are nice people there.
Good Luck
Steve
I'm not sure it will work, as the 78-82 used a 2 1/2 in spring, and the 68-77 used a 2 1/4 in one. I don't think you will be able to bolt it up to the rear diff, the 4 stock holes are very tight at 2/14 in. also, if it is used, there is no way i would put it on my 'Vette. Better to buy new, if the new glass units are too pricy, I would recomend going with a steel replacement, either the stock rate - 195lbs 9 leaf, or a 330lb 7 leaf. Despite some problems with thier rebuilt units, these guys PARTS are first quality, and I would recomend them for thier PARTS. 144 w/free shipping http://www.fastcorvette.com/RearSuspension.htm
You can also check VBP for thier steel springs http://www.vbandp.com/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=372.
I wouldn't use it.
