Default Horn contact ring too sensitive - help?

I now have a working horn!! I bought the new contactor ring assembly from MidAmerica Motorworks. When the horn cap is put back on, the horn is too sensitive, meaning that any touch at all sounds the horn, which is OK, but if you tap the horn button on about the 5 oclock position, it tends to "stick" on. The dielectric clearance between the contactor rings seems to thin. Is there a better unit than MidAmerica's unit? Can't really compare to my old unit as the horn never worked...until I replaced horn and relay. I know that most vendors get their stuff (in many cases) from the same supplier, but this one is too sensitive. I want more "air" gap between the the two rings. Any advice? I forgot how much a pain in the rear old horns were
the only vendor I know that professes to be COMPLETELY different is Dr. Rebuild...is there a fix to make the horn contact ring less sensitive or do I just need to try them until I find a good one?
Suggestions?

the contact ring has the part that attaches to the steering column with 3 screws, then there is the part that the horn button is press fit onto. the two rings are held apart with some kind of spring type of substance...I can see the three plastic rivets that hold them togeher. They don't touch normall..but the the stress of the button press fit onto the top ring must put them even closer on that side. the "springs" or whatever they use ,need to be stronger to hold the 2 rings apart...
