what is everybody's "consensus" on the brand of tires that you have on C3's? my 1982 has 255/60-15's, Goodyear Eagles, i'm getting ready to replace them. what is a good alternative?
You might check out the Wal-Mart website for Goodrich RWL T/A Radials. They usually won't carry them in the stores, but [if still available] you can order online for pickup/installation at your local store.
I had BFG Radial T/A's on the '78 I owned...excellent tire. On my '69 I have Coopers...also excellent. Of the six cars my wife and I own, five of them wear Coopers. The sixth still has the factory BFG G-Force tires it came factory equipped with.
I've had Dunlops in the past and liked them. My experience with Goodyears left me unimpressed. A lot of guys here like Firehawks.
thanks for everybody's input, i've had Coopers on other cars and i always had good luck with Dunlop's i had them on a 77 Datsun 280Z, very good tires. i'll let you know which ones i get. just like a pair of shoes, i'm picky
you cant get the higher speed rating in a 255-60-15(atleast i couldnt find any)
in 16" or 17" there is lots more choice
Nope.
Had the Coopers on my Camaro-daily driver years back.
Speed was never the issue. Only had problem with the fronts.
1 Blow out at 60 mph and 3 other different tires with belt issues over a year.
Dealer guessed the broken belts where from our wonderful roads here in Indiana. ie. Pot holes
Changed to BFG's on that car too and never another problem.
I've been leary of Coopers ever since. They handled well and hooked up well, but IMO did not hold up.
I've run GY, Firestone, Bridgestone, Dunlop, BFG. Only had issues with Cooper Cobras.

good to hear not speed issue cause i like to get over the limit sometimes
roads pretty good round here so mabie ill get some miles out of them
Green valve caps mean they put nitrogen in them instead of air. It's a marketing thing...it probably cost you $10 for that (and it's absolutely useless). [I know...I know...it doesn't have the same coefficient of expansion as "air". But "air" is 80% nitrogen anyway. What's the diff????]
