Consol Advice
I found and purchased an NOS consol
(what’s the chances of that?) that is still in the GM box and has not been painted. It is basically white plastic. My interior is black and I was hoping someone could tell me what the best way is to prep, primer, and paint my new consol so it matches the rest of my original interior. The replacement part is over 30-years old, so I want to make sure I do this correctly (parts like this, as all of you know, are not cheap!)
I looked at several products from Eastwood, but there are so many to choose from and all claim they are the answer to my question, I am at a loss. Now I turn to the real experts for advice. Thanks!John

I have used SEMS products with excellent results. I clean the part as best I can, then use the SEMS Prep spray just before applying the color. I use about 3 to 4 light coats to make sure I have everything covered.
I have found that Willcox offers a very good color match for my Dark Saddle color. You can try them or most of the other corvette parts guys (Corvette Central, Ecklers, Corvette America etc).
Good luck,
Dino
SEM vinyl dye....do not paint the console, or it will be the only item in your interior that's painted. If you have spray equipment, buy a pint of SEM mixed to your GM trim code color; or you can buy a spray can of dye from some aftermarket supply places. I'd suggest that you also buy one of those cushioned T-pads that fit on top of the rear console so you have an arm rest. That's probably why the one you have is cracked. You can get them in your interior color, too.
