I purchased my 75 with two different set of tire sizes. Front is 225/60/15 and rear is 225/70/15. As I am getting ready to order some new tires, I would like to know if this was the previous owners preference or is this the normal way. Another word, what is the correct size to purchase and brand name while you at it? Thanks for your input.
Mine on my 81 are 255/R60/15 Firestone Indy 500s all they way around. I don't see that tire size as an option on a 75 though, only the 225/R70/15 size.
You should look for 255 60 15's to put a little more meat on the road. This was the factory optional tire size and will fill the wheel well. Like a lot of guys, I have Goodyear Eagle GTll's and really like them- lots of tread, quiet ride, raised white letters, and wear like iron when kept well inflated
60 series tires weren't authorized by GM until the '78 model year when fender well modifications were made. Prior to that C3's only came with 70 series. It's real hit or miss whether a 60 series will fit without clearance problems prior to '78. Many install 60 series with no problems...just as many have had problems.
If you decide on 60 series, have the tire dealer do a test fit before you pay to make sure there are no issues.
I think you are absolutely correct with the 60 size. I noticed whenever I turn the wheel to the right a sound noise is coming from the right wheel. It is rubbing against something which I have not had the opportunity to look under yet.

225/ 60's up front. That way they will not rub. I would go with a larger tire out back like the 255/60's. Sometime the 225 - 60 series tire looks a little small in diameter on the rear, especially with a new spring. No problems with it hitting the ebrake tab either if your running stock ralley rims. I see a lot of BFG's out there.
225/ 70's all the way, if you do not want to stagger the widths, always looks good too.
On my '74, when I ran the stock 8" rims, I could run the 255/60/15's front and rear but when I switched to 8.5" rims I ran into fender rubbing on the right front. I ran 235/60/15's on the front to eliminate the problem.
