Default Interior Time

Tonight I removed the seats from my '76 and a buddy is going to recover them for me (complete with new seat foam). I'm supposed to be begin removing that rest of the interior. Don't quite know where to start. I removed the screws for the shifter plate, but can't get it to come all the way out. Is there something that I'm doing wrong? I assume that this and the shifter console need to be removed to get the parking brake console out of the car. Then I need someone to explain removing the three storage compartments.

Do you have an AIM? Have you looked at it to analyze how to go about your project? That would be a lot quicker than asking the Forum for every "next step". I would recommend that your next step is to take up the sill plates from the rocker channels.

Just a carpet replacement right now (and replacing the parking brake console).

If that is all you are doing then all that need come out are the kicks, the side panels, both of which have three screws.. These are the panels that are but up against the side of the console. one screw (I think) holds the back end of that brake console rubber on. A few screws holding the rear compartment door trim on, and the screws holding the T-Top straps on, door sills... and that is about it.. The carpet should just come out in three pieces. Rear, and left/right... You do not need to rip the whole console apart to do this.
