Default Replacing Power Window Motor

Has anyone changed their power window motor on a '78?I have drilled the rivets out but do I need to go ahead and take the whole regulator out or can it be done leaving it in place?I have the window taped up so it won't fall but I hate to get everything out of adjustment because there are so many variables in getting it right again even after scribing the placement of bolts before removal.(patience being the most needed I guess). If it is possible to do without removing the regulator I think I can get bolts back in place of the rivets and not have anything to adjust.I am having trouble trying to visualize where I need to place the 1/4-20 one inch bolt and nut to hold the pieces while removing and replacing the motor.Maybe some one can suggest better pics or drawings of the R/R for this showing where the 1/4-20 is placed and what it looks like when in place.I haven't been able to find anything that shows that part of the process.I just bought the motor without gear so I may have to remove the whole regulator to get at that part and it is hard to tell from all of the articles I've read and looked at.Suggestions??
