81 4 speed
Hi, I was researching my new treasure, an '81 4 speed black/med red. I wanted to find out how many were made. I found that 5757 4 speeds were manufactured in 81, but any one know how many of those were black/red? I could not find this break down in numbers. Thanks...

You might try the National Corvette Museum. I think they have the records from Bowling Green back to 1981 (first year of production). Check your VIN, if the 11th character is "5" your car was built in BG, if it's "S" it was built in St. Louis and you may be out of luck. The only other way is to do the % of cars with a 4 speed time the % of black cars, etc to come up with a rough estimate of black 4 speeds.
