Consider putting the dollar back where you found it. On the wall it is just a dollar, valuable only to you. In the car it connects the past with the present and the future. Put your name and the date on the dollar and put it back. Leave a note, tell the story of the car and the dollar as you know it, tell why you bought this car, and leave it there.
You have a rare piece of the car's history and a chance to give it all some meaning. Put it back..........

Hay thats a great idea I will do it when I get the car done the car has some wierd history behind it also.
My brother worked at the Corvette dealer at the time this car came in wrecked, he bought it from the insurance company.
In doing paperwork on the car to restore and license it, he discovered the young man who had owned it lived in the house we all grew up in, and my parents had sold it to him just a few years before.
Being a former archaeologist (retired), I always wished someone would inscribe the date and their name on pottery shards or in old buildings we were trying to date. Now, I always put my name and date on any house repairs and, yes, even in the door of my Vette!

Among stuff I've found: receipts, a wrench, some loose change, a couple of match books, 1/2 pack of JOB's and, yes, a couple of partially used "cigarettes". Apparently not all that uncommon an item to find laying in and around early C3's back when...
My son and I picked up a 47' chevy pick-up(46'body last of the few) out of the farmers field on saturday. On Sunday the next day we got it to run (80k miles). Then we took it apart when he got the gas tank out from under the seat there was a newspaper article about the ****'s and a new 47 penny we got it framed. WRO87
I found some personal papers in my 68 with a name and address of a previous owner from back several owners. There was no phone number but i was able to track him down and got a wealth of information about the cars past. He was very happy to hear where the car was and told me how he would drive the car down from West Virginia to the outer banks every summer. He had T-Boned a kid in an Audi who had pulled out in front of him doing some damage to the front clip but didn't hit hard enough to hurt the frame. The car had changed hands twice that i know of but neither guy ever did anything with it. It's interesting to see what you can learn about your car just from what you find inside it.
Actually, all six of them did has that smile...and I am not joking . they looked exactly the same as that one, except they were babies and were each the size of a marble.
