Options...drop a crate in and rebuild the original....if you decide to sell, you can offer the original motor with the vette....that attracts both kinds of buyers...the NCRS or Mod guys...
Mid-year C3's are slowly getting strong in the market...a few more years they will be worth more....
I agree with all the previous posts. The thing's 32 years old and still has the original drive train! It's a no brainer to keep the original engine and rebuild it if the internal damage isn't bad, or keep the original for when you sell it and drop in a crate motor.
OK, so I have to ask the question. Has anybody here, or know of anybody, that bought a Vette with a new motor and been offered the old motor? If so, how did you get the old motor home? I'm thinking most Vette owners are not gearheads and do not have the equipment to unload a motor much less store it.
Rebuild and keep car original, or do what I did with my 75, pull the orig engine intact and replace with another, but never get rid of the orig. engine as long as you have the car!!! Either way about the same amount of money......................B

Is it still the 1800's in the south?!?!??!!?!?!?! You MUST be a gearhead to own a Vette, some states require it, they break down every time you drive them!!!! No one could afford to keep a mechanic on retainer for every time the Vette doesn't run......................B
I'm just half a gearhead so I must rely on people that have worked at
NASCAR shops for my engine expertise. With the new engine in the '70 it is nice to go past a cookout and not think it's the Vette cooking.
And YES we still are in the 1800's in the South - please stay up North to avoid 75 degree weather today - we had one snow so far this season and it melted by 1:00pm - and the beautiful Southern Ladies.
