Default `68 427 block value

Can someone help with a value for a block I want to sell. The deck surface is coded CE for replacement for warranty work. The block is a 3916321 which was used until Jan. `68. The cast date is very clear at 8-10-67. This was a 427/435. The block needs 2 sleeves and bored 070 or all 8 sleeves and returned to standard bore. Value opinions or a needy party would be appreciated.

I have been looking for myself, too bad this isn't closer to what I need. On the average I have been seeing 2700 to 3500. Yours being a 435 hp, I would suspect on the high side. Ebay is not bringing as much, but some guys on the forum and other internet sites are trying to get these prices. Its supply and demand, thats whats driving the price up.

August of '67 is very early for a "CE" block. How are the broach marks?
8 sleeves/bore/cam berings/freeze plugs/etc. around here will cost apx. $1,000.00.
I'm guessing that $1,000.00 is top money, and that $500.00 is an easy sell. It is a true 4 bolt correct?
JMHO.

With all the issues, I would say the same. $500 to $1000.

A 435 block std bore needing to go out a bit will be (hopefully) on ebay 1500 to 2500 dollars.

It will need 1500 dollars to be machined to build up for a car. It is very early as a "CE" for a 68 but I am sure that when the block was new it was warranteed into a 66 or 67 Corvette's open engine compartment.

There's nothing unique with that casting number that ties it to being a 435 hp engine. The CE code cannot be decomposed to prove that it was a 435 either.

The same casting number was used on all early 427 cars.

I agree with the $500 mark, the machine work and sleeve costs are just too high UNLESS it was a numbers matching block which it isn't.

if it is 4-bolt, book says that it would have to be 400 or 435 hp vette or a 425 hp passenger car engine. maybe not even from a vette.

And it's very easy to replicate GM's process of making a four bolt block out of a two bolt. Impossible to tell the difference afterwards.

There's nothing 'cast into the block' that's different between a 2 bolt and a 4 bolt. It's simply how many holes were drilled and tapped into the block, what type of caps were selected and how many bolts were used to hold the caps to the block.

Simple as that.
