Just a couple of pictures to bring you guys up to date..MAN, I hit the winter doldrums around early January, just couldn't force myself out to the garage, its so cold and damp out there!! Started catching my second wind a week or so ago, and pretty much finished cleaning and painting the engine bay, and I'm probably just a few days from sliding in the ZZ4 and 2004R!! Not as thorough a job as if I had removed the steering assembly and brake booster, but really didn't want to get into all that. Still not too bad, and what an improvement!!

Did you strip any of the paint off before spraying such as on the frame and a arms? The paint afterwards looks pretty smooth.
Started with HOT water, Zep Industrial Purple, and Scotchbrite to remove the loose grease, rust, etc. Took a drill and wire brush to the accessible areas, sanded some of it...washed it probably 7-8 times...Then I wiped it down several times with Acetone. Then I sprayed on several (maybe 8-10++) light coats of Krylon Rust Tough Enamel Semi Flat. I am amazed at how smooth the paint filled and covered, almost a velvety texture. I'm pretty pleased with the results.
BTW that Zep Industrial Purple will remove paint..literally. I soaked all my brackets and pulleys, etc in about 50/50 HOT water and Zep..the paint came right off. Made the mistake of using it once without rubber gloves..burned my skin. Its good stuff!
Been thinking about a small propane heater like yours, but geez propane is so blasted expensive now. I bought a small kerosene heater on sale at Home Depot, works great!

It's not that bad really. That's a 75,000 BTU unit, propane is around 91,000 BTU/gal. So when it's in full fire mode it uses a gallon about every hour and 15 min. Once it's up to temp it only cycles on & off via thermostat. I had a 120 gal tank dropped on the side of the shop 2 years ago when I installed it, and I'm still about 40-45% full. Keeps a 34 x 32 uninsulated shop pretty comfortable. I only set it at about 60, if I'm doing any work out there I get too warm if it's set higher. If I ever get busy and do a little insulating, I could really cut down on the gas I'm using.
That ZZ4 should be a lot of fun! Always fun to get new stuff for our cars.
