Unfortunately one of my cars was broken into yesterday at home while I was at work. Got a call from the ex-wife when she came home telling me that the doors to my truck were ajar. I raced home at to my sadness found that most of the audio equipment was stolen.

The truck has full coverage so after filing the police report I called on to find out that since it was all aftermarket the insurance does not cover it. It is something you have to add to your policy which I never knew. Anyway had a real shi**y day. No equipment and no money to cover my losses. The only good news was that there was no damage to the vehicle what-so-ever. When I bought the equipment back in 2004 I paid almost 3000.00 for those components. It will cost me less than half if I decide to shell out the cash..........
I am sorry. My vette, well, I dont leave her unattended. I make the grocery cart dude sit with her....
I had an 84 Toyota Celica GTS that was broken into 3 times for stereo equipment.
Since then (10 yrs and a couple kids) I gave up on amps, bass tubes, and, in general, the fun stuff. I know how you feel though. One time someone almost got my car in Boston..left a dent puller in the ignition. I was soooo mad and violated. Atleast you have your car. I thought electric current might be a good deterrent
I had a car broken into once, fortunately nothing was taken except for a Mag Lite because all it had was a factory radio. Sorry to hear what happened to you. I do appreciate the heads up about the insurance not covering the equipement. Hope the crooks are caught.
Why doesn't insurance cover that? Unless they stated it wasn't covered it should. Or if it was sitting in your driveway see if homeowners would cover it.

Back when I used Allstate Ins., they told me that if it didn't "bolt in" it wasn't covered. So any speaker cabinets can not be claimed. Not sure if they are all like that though.
That is really crappy of your insurance. Mine has never had a problem like that. They told me as long as it is bolted down to the car, or attached in some way, (part of the car), then it is covered. Which includes radios etc.

Hmmm let me see. Oh yeah normally the truck would be locked in the garage but because my 75 vette is on one side and the frame and rear clip are on the other there was no room for the truck.
Didn't know that as a forum member I could not share an incident with my fellow members regardless of whether or not it is related to my C3

Let me get this right you stated the ex-wife was coming home. Is it your home or hers. And, when she told you the bad news was she laughing
We split up about 5 years ago. We own the house together. I get full use of the garage which is where I keep my c3 along with my truck. She seemed pretty shaken up about it. Just knowing that someone trespassed on the property was enough for her. Needless to say she is now gonna pay for a fence and I am going to install video camera outside.

I agree on the electric current or maybe 12gauge shotgun

You know I was thinking of something along the lines of having some type of canister discharge a paralying agent if a code was not entered within 30 seconds of opening the door.
