Default Seat cover experts needed Pics

I just finished installing the cover on seat back and noticed some foam sticking out the bottom on both sides. I'm wondering if I should have tried to get the covers to stretch over it further or do I just trim the foam off? It will leave about an inch of the frame exposed.

Two sets of seats had the same thing. You could cut it back. I just left it. Really not that noticible when installed.

I'd leave it. As the covers relax or the foam compresses you might be able to cover it.

If you ever have a chance can you take a picture of the reverse side? In other words, the back.

Thanks

I've done two sets of seats, the excess foam is normal, I left it for now,
as mentioned above, eventually you can stretch the covers, or trim it off.

Same here, looks exactly like how mine came out. I was going to trim mine with a razor after I was sure I couldn't strech it some more.

Glad for this post as I just did the drivers side in my 75 and they turned out just like yours. Thought for sure that the I didn't start putting the covers on in the right position but now that I've seen this the passenger side will take less time

Good day.

Who made these covers?

I just finished doing a set for my 72 and that came from Willcox, It seems like it goes further down.

I would wait with the excess foam, bolt the seat together and try to sit in it few times and see if it relaxes further down.

My input from Joe at Willcox was to let the covers sit in the sun before putting them on the seats to soften them up, and thats what I did.

It took me about a day each seat, and my fingers hurt after.....hehehe

Jon.

These are from wilcox, original style leather. Thanks for the replies guys. I think I will leave them for awhile and see if I can pull the covers down more and if not then trim the foam.

AKTBIRD,
I think the two sides need to be pulled down ( there's a pucker about 2/3 of the way up the back in 1 of the pictures) and hog ringed to the bottom metal cross piece. This would smooth the pucker and cover the bottom edge of the foam. I learned this only by doing my 71seats "several" times.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks Alan, I think I will leave it set till the weekend. Maybe the cover will stretch a little more by then so I can try and pull it down more.

I agree with Alan...You have to Pull so hard it hurts your fingers...But it does work, I did my 77 with full leather from Al Knoch and No foam (New replacement) is visable anywhere. The result however is very satisfying!
Good Luck

I also got my seat covers from Wilcox and they went all the way down.
