I would stick with the stamples. Anything larger sticking toward the inside of the door panel will prvent you from seating the panel on the door frame. Same goes for the felt side that could scratch the glass.

Tim,
I agree with ART73. The staples will look like the originals. I see some replacement door panels that have the felts pop-riveted on, it bothers me, but apparently not everyone.
