Default Mufflers

Since my car is stock and I have to deal with smog, I wont be re-doing my exhaust system for performance, but I would like a little Vette "music" coming out of the tailpipe. I found a shop that bend the the pipes and put performance mufflers for 2 bills. (basically from the cat back) Now what would the suggestions be for muffler type, Ive heard some use flow masters and others. I'd like to hear some of your opinions. Also would it be worth it to go with a low restiction cat?

I bought my system from corvette central--aluminized with magnaflow mufflers. Not a hard to do except for removing the old exhaust studs--took me a week because I really soaked them with kroil and took my time--didn't break any off.

Hey Ray, nice lookin 76. I see from your profile that your vette is a stock L 48- and you need to be CA smog compliant. If your happy with your muffler shop and can get a good 2 1/2 inch cat back dual exhaust, then I'd suggest you add a modern Magnaflow cat- if you need one. I'd also recommend that you get pretty "loud" mufflers if you want to hear any rumble wth the stock engine. 2 Flowmaster 40's or 44's would get you some sound .

Also I found these on fleabay. Would this be too loud. Or unsafe? Or just plain tacky?
