Default Headlight Actuator Doglip Question

I wanted to try and fix all my vacuum issues today. I've got my windshield wiper door working perfectly again. Both headlights go down and one goes up. I drive this car all the time, so that isn't good enough. I have traced my problem to a leaky/faulty doglip seal on the bottom of the passenger side headlight. Is this the likely culprit? Does anyone have experience with one? And lastly, is there anyway I can repair it without taking the entire mechanism out?

Not sure what you're talking about re "dog lip seal". You can get seal rebuild kits from the usual suspects and rebuild the canister pretty easily. You can get the cannister out by itself through the valance. I did it with my hood open, and worked it out through the opening in the valance below. If you're careful, and can get it turned the right way, it will come out, and go back in without alot of effort. Once you've undone the vacuum lines, it's like 4 nuts that hold it in on the mount, and then the one bolt through the actuator for the lamp assy.

Mine pop right up now and I had the same problem you've got before the rebuild. There's some links on this forum, so do a search, they were very helpful to me.

Good luck!!

Adam, I recently did this on the actuators on my 79, they're easy to do. PM me if you need help, you could come by the house and I'll be glad to give you a hand.
