I see these cars for sale stating no rust, not even a hint of rust, ect. ect. Ad nauseum. Then I look at the pictures and see rust all over the frame. Are these people from a different dimension where no rust actually means plenty of visible rust? Are they so high on drugs they know not what they say? Do they think everyone else is so high on drugs we know not what we see?
I wonder myself sometimes. I know that sometimes it's just surface rust that will wire wheel off, but why doesn't the person say that it's surface rust rather than saying it's rust free?
"No rust" falls into the same catagory as "driver quality", "show quality", "perfect", "nice", "like new", "fresh", "ready to enjoy", "all original", and very rarely mean the same to buyer as they do to the seller. At least digital photography and the internet have taken alot of the dissapointment of traveling several hours to find out the same words have different meanings to the parties involved away. For that we can be greatfull.
Before there were so many "glass" bodied street rods did you ever try finding a "rust free" example? Talk about interpretation - you wouldn't believe it. That was before email.

When someone refers to a Corvette having no rust issues, my interpretation of that to mean is, there is no structural issues. Surface rust occurs so frequently that the only cars not to have this issue are freshly RESTORED cars.

You'd be hard pressed to find an old Vette that's actually been driven that doesn't have some surface "oxidation" on the frame. However, there is a big difference between a rotted frame and one with surface rust.
