Default Screen in wiper box missing

Over on the passenger side just below the windshield in the wiper box area there should be a screen that prevent leaves and other stuff from going down into the blower cage. Mine is gone. Does anyone have a photo of what it should look like? Will I be able to find one to put in there or should I become bubba for a day and go to home depot for some wire mesh?

My 72 doesn't have one either. Seems like the ones I've seen were plastic mesh instead of wire. About 1/4" square holes.

71's were metal/wire type. The later model C3's were plastic.

Patrick,
Did 71's really have screens? I don't think I've ever seen any. Would love to know for sure. Still learning new things.
Regards,
Alan

PS: Do you know if they're shown in the AIM?

Alan,
You may be correct. We need a 71 expert on this issue! I do not have a 71 AIM.

My 73 has 2 metal wire screens. Name of part is " plenum screen assembly". They are shown in my 73 AIM, page 64. Part # 327691 for LH, # 327692 for RH. Held in with 3 metal screws. They are in the GM parts catalog in Group 12.941.

The 68-82 GM corvette parts catalog appears to have a listing and part number for 73-82 models only. New part # 3755977 and # 3755978. My 80 model had plastic screens, not metal.

Appears to me that 1973 may have been the first year for the factory to install the plenum screen assembly.

I do not see any screens in the wiper plenum area in Tim's 71 wwwpage photos: http://www.corvette-restoration.com/

Go to Home Depot and purchase hardware cloth (wire mesh) and make your own. You need need the mesh to keep debris out of the heater box and interior duct work. Once you cut a piece of mesh and bend it to fit snugly, secure it with weatherstrip adhesive.
