On my 69, the door behind the kick panel has two studs which hold it in position and allow it to hinge in its pocket. The top one is fixed, and the bottom is spring loaded.
Well, the hole that the top stud goes in is broken/chunked off, and the door will not stay in position.
Its very hard to get in this area to see it, and I can't get a drill in there to drill another hole near the old one. (I know the door will be a little off and probably not seal correctly even if I could get another hole drilled there)
Anyone had this problem before? I can't come up with an idea to fix it!
You can repair the broken section with fiberglass. Then when dry drill out the hole with a 90 degree adapter on your drill. You should be able to purchase one of these from your local hardware or favorite tool store.
This is the only way you can repair this correctly and the door seal up properly.
Smear some epoxy/JB Weld on a washer with the ~right diameter for its center hole. Stick the washer onto the remnants of your old hole, when it dries the vent door stalk will slip right in.
