After trying to salvage most of my original parts and struggling with the alignment for a while, I decided just to go with the purchased assembly from one of the major vendors. In case people are trying to do this, I found it's pretty much impossible to get a mixture of different vendors parts along with OE parts to all fit right together.
My question is, does anyone know whether there are differences in content and/or quality between the major vendors? Mid-America has the cheapest price, but they're all pretty much in the same ballpark. Any help is appreciated.
About the rear compartment units. Up until a year ago, these units were actually made by DeWitt (as in radiators) using original tooling. DeWitt sold this business to, I think, Mid America. I know that the untis, when made by DeWitt, were excellent quality. I assume that the Mid America (?) ones are also. My DeWitt rear unit have stainless steel hindges, not the OEM steel. Maybe a NCRS guy wouldn't like this, but I do.
As for the other interior, it's difficult to find who actually makes them. For instance, does Mid America make some of their own seat covers and door panels and does Al Knoch make their own, or do these parts originate from a common source. EC Products makes a lot of interior parts but do not sell them under their name. They supply to the various corvette vendors. They also sell on ebay under another name (forgot what it is). Some of the EC stuff doesn't fit well or sometimes doesn't look that good up close. (I bought 68 ebrake consoles from both Dr Rebuild and Mid Americ. Both had EC Products labels and didn't look very good.)
