Default Front of hood alignment

I think it is common but the front drivers side of my hood is about a 1/4 inch higher than the front surround, passenger side is perfect. I had bought the hood bumpers and the rest of the hood looks great. Has anyone tried cutting 1/8 or 1/4 inch from the hinge and re-welding ? I do not want to bubba this but I see no other options to bring it down.

I did a search last May and found a couple of post about this topic. I don't have the links but I did cut and past the "good" parts, here they are:

First Post:
The LAST thing I'd do would be to start grinding ... If you study the front end of a chrome bumper C3 you'll see that the WHOLE front end is supported by 4 bolts (2 on each side) on the frame extension brackets. If you were to remove these 4 bolts (don’t do it) your whole front end could be moved up and down about 3/8 of an inch.

I suggest that you put a floor jack under each frame extension bracket, loosen those 2 bolts, and raise the front end up slightly. This will raise the front relative to the hood. This is exactly what I did when my '72 looked just like yours. It now is perfect

Second Post:
Please think it all over before doing anything here. You didn't move the
front end at the frame horns (extensions), so why would you move them.
Even if you did, the whole nose would rise. The inner fenders (bonded to
the outer fenders) would also rise. The core support is bolted to the inner
fenders ... hood bolted to core support. In a nutshell, the hood
will rise/fall with the nose. I guess it would help slightly (per sray454) ...
but again, this was not moved OUT of alignment, yet.

There ARE two things you can try before resorting to a grinder.

First, the problem occurred when changing the radiator core support.
Recall that this is held to the inner fenders with 3 bolts on each side,
accessed in the front wheel wells. Additionally, the support is held
at the bottom with 2 bolts. My 75 has adjustable L shaped brackets here ...
not sure exactly on chromie - might bolt directly to batwing cross member.
You want to loosen all these bolts and adjust the core support lower,
and your hood will drop by the same distance in the front.

If that doesn't do it - or doesn't get it "all", then look for the bar
that goes from the bottom of the core support up to the headlight
support. Loosen the upper bolt and adjust the height of the
hood surround. Unfortunately, this works more at the center than at
the edges.

If these two things don't get you lined back up, then start thinking
about grinding or trimming.
