Default 75 coupe heater core

Got a leaker and want to replace it. I have no problem getting all of the interior stuff out, but Haynes says first to "remove the nuts from the heater distributor studs on the engine side of the firewall." I don't see these and am wondering if I have to remove the blower motor and case to gain access to these studs. I hope not. The illustration in Haynes doesn't resemble my set up so I really don't want to remove a bunch of stuff if it's not necessary. Everything is stock factory on this system.
Anybody familiar with this who could help me.
Thanks, Mike

There may be a few hints in my write-up from eight years ago. You can certainly see the distributor/blower studs and nuts. This is irrelevant if you have A/C.

I have a/c but the pics still help. I noticed the core came out via the engine compartment. I think I read mine comes out inside. Will remove the coolant recovery bottle and have another go at it.

Haynes strikes again. I've never used one for Corvette work but I have found their manuals for other cars to be sorely lacking in some areas and even downright erroneous in others.

OK, yes with A/C it comes out from the interior. But here are more tips.

You may find jam nuts on the studs under the sealer after the fan and housing is removed.

got it out today. One nut in the engine compartment near the top of the firewall plus the two hoses underneath. Inside three bolts after removing everything in the center and on the right side. Ducts, guage cluster dash pad, etc.. Found 8 cents in the core housing.
