Default Are You Getting "The Look?"

Those of you with Vettes or anything else for that matter with a healthy cam and good exhaust rumble that has that distinctive hot rod sound...Have you been getting some "Why are you driving THAT looks"? I have. I assume with the raised concerns about being "green" we may be becoming outcasts. I still get many comments from people that admire the car, but I've noticed a definite increase in rolled eyes and turned up noses.

I couldn't care less what someone else thinks about me or what I drive or the fuel economy it gets or doesn't.
In fact, if I ever get a bad look from someone driving a car such as a hybrid maybe i'll thank them for driving such a fuel efficient car and leaving extra gas in the world for me to run my Vettes!

Screw 'em, I usually disagree with liberal tree hugger hippie types about everything anyway, might as well disagree about cars, too!

Why don't you tell the next Birkenstock wearing, non-bathing individual that the manufaturing capacity to produce your car is still paying off X years later, while their Prius will be taking up prime landfill space in 6-7 years!

Seriously, I did have an elderly woman at a gas station ask me if I was having a problem with my car. She looked genuinely concerned, and when I said "No", she said ,"You might want to get it checked out. It sounds like your muffler may have fallen off!". My girlfriend and I got a good laugh out of that!

My wife's giving me the look right now! I don't think its vette related through. It may have something to do with dirty dishes!

Every time I go for a "drive" I feel it's my way of flippin' the bird to rising fuel prices...bring it on. 10 bucks a gallon ain't gunna stop my hot roddin' fun.....

Screw em too. My driver 85 gets 26 mpg. A Brand new Corolla gets 35---saw one of their ads tonite.

I think vettes get a bad rap. My company truck, a 2003 Dodge, averages 14.6 HWY, and its in good running order, according to NYS inspection

hehe....funny, just this afternoon over at a buddy's place getting some welding done....this little old lady walking by, admired my tired '72, saying it sure looked grand....I smiled and thanked her for the compliment but said it was only a 20-20 car and explained it.....

turns out she was 92, my buddy knew her from around the hood....

so yes, I get the 'look'......

Every time my garage door is open, people drive by and stare at my chassis - they never even looked before when it used to be all rusty and greasy

My old cranky neighbor will come out and stand in the street with his hands on his hips in front of the house whenever I crank mine up. I just wave.

Just yesterday while I was cruising through the adjacent neighborhood, a lady walking her dog made it a point to stop walking and cover her ears when I went by.

That just means that they don't think its loud enough Put a few holes in your mufflers and then they won't be standing on the side walk anymore - they'll run inside the nearest house

The tree huggers don't realize there putting 15 to 20 thousand miles a year on their car a year, I'm not putting half that much on mine(weekend car weather permitting) and getting about 20mpg. They dont even realize their using more gas than me!

The only problem there is that I'm running 4 inch side pipes with just about the loudest muffler insert made.
